Demonstration in Karaj in solidarity with the Khuzestan protests

Demonstrations in solidarity with the Khuzestan protests spread from Tabriz and Tehran to Karaj. “From Karaj to Khuzestan, unity, unity” and “Death to the dictator” were among the slogans chanted by protesters in the Karaj demonstrations.

On Monday night, July 26, the people of Karaj, the capital of Alborz Province, also took to the streets and demonstrated in solidarity with the protests in Khuzestan, which targeted water shortages and water mismanagement by officials.

The Karaj demonstration followed the Tabriz march, in which protesters expressed their support for the Khuzestan protesters.

In videos posted on social media from Fardis Karaj, slogans can be heard: "From Karaj to Khuzestan, unity, unity," "Death to the dictator," "Reza Shah, may your soul rest in peace," and "The law enforcement forces support support."

Before Karaj, Tehran was also the scene of demonstrations targeting the entire system, including slogans against Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic: "Khamenei, have some shame, abandon your country!"

Other slogans chanted by the Tehran marchers include "Neither Gaza nor Lebanon, I will sacrifice my life for Iran," "The mullah's cannon and rocket must disappear," and "Death to the dictator."

Videos have been released from the Alaeddin Passage on Tehran's Jomhuri Street and one of the city's metro stations, in which protesters chant the slogan "Reza Shah, may your soul be happy."

Protests over water tensions in Khuzestan began on July 15. The protests, which lasted for about a week, led to the widespread deployment of security forces, the establishment of a tense security atmosphere, and the deaths, injuries, and arrests of a number of people.

In the latest developments, a group of journalists as well as the Music House have issued statements expressing their support for the demands of the people of Khuzestan and condemning the violence against them.
