New charges against Farhad Meysami, civil activist, in Revolutionary Court

Relatives of civil activist Farhad Meysami announced his retrial in the Revolutionary Court, despite the fact that he has been in prison for the past three and a half years without any leave.

Zia Nabavi, a former student activist who himself has a history of serving more than eight years in prison on political charges, wrote on Twitter on Friday, February 19, that Mr. Meysami was sent from Rajai Shahr Prison to the Karaj Revolutionary Court the previous day, and in Branch 1 of the investigation, he was charged with propaganda against the regime.

According to him, the accusation against Mr. Meysami is "publishing his writings in cyberspace."

In December of this year, on the anniversary of the killing of Dariush Forouhar and Parvaneh Forouhar by agents of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence during a series of murders, Farhad Meysami published a message praising their resistance to the authoritarian government.

She has been in prison since August 2018 without a single day off, and has been sentenced to five years in prison for her civic actions opposing the compulsory hijab.
