The government talks about "unity," but silences the people's voices through repression.

In his speech, Ali Khamenei spoke of the unity of the people, whose voices are silenced by repression.
In a speech on Sunday, September 2, on the occasion of the anniversary of the martyrdom of "Ali ibn Musa al-Reza," Ali Khamenei once again emphasized the need for national unity and support for the president and the armed forces. In the meeting, which was attended by different segments of the population, Ali Khamenei said: "Iran's enemies are disappointed by their defeat in military wars and are now trying to achieve their goals by creating internal discord."
In his speech, he said: “Defending the system means defending the country and standing up to the enemy. The unity of the people will end up at the expense of America and Israel and will prevent their attack.” Khamenei also addressed political and media activists, saying: “Those who take a stand on social media, including X, must understand what they are doing.”
Referring to US policies, he added: “We want the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic to listen to our commands.” Khamenei considered this view to be the main reason for Washington’s hostility and continued: “Those who consider direct negotiations with America as a solution are superficial people.” He also continued his speech by criticizing domestic opponents, calling them “inadvertent” or “enemy agents.” Khamenei emphasized: “Any criticism that undermines the foundations of the Islamic Republic is in line with the goals of foreigners.”
Such stances show that the government continues to antagonize any dissenting voice, leaving virtually no room for civil protest or constructive criticism.
He also attacked a group of overseas opponents who had held a meeting about the "government after the Islamic Republic" after the start of the recent war, calling them mercenaries and delusional, and said: "Fuck that Iranian who works against his own country and in favor of Zionism and America."
These words come at a time when Iranian society is facing deep economic problems, a livelihood crisis, widespread corruption, and political restrictions. Critics say that the constant reference to “enemy conspiracy” is not only not an answer to the people’s difficult lives, but also a tool to silence protests and justify repression. “How can we talk about national unity when any opposition, even within the framework of the law, is quickly labeled as an enemy or a foreign agent?” they stressed.
In another part of his speech, Khamenei referred to supporting the government and the president and said: "The people must support the country's servants, especially the hardworking and diligent president." But the fundamental question remains unanswered: "Does supporting a structure whose track record is full of repression, restrictions, and ignoring the will of the people mean defending the country or does it merely lead to the continuation of the rule?"
Ali Khamenei has repeatedly called "unity" the nation's main shield, but critics warn that a unity formed on the basis of eliminating and threatening opponents is more like forced silence than real solidarity.
