Security forces tried to disperse the gathering of marketers in front of the parliament with tear gas. Videos show the setting of special forces motorbikes on fire and fires in Ferdowsi Square, Istanbul Crossroads, and other parts of Tehran.

Following a mass gathering of protesting bazaars in front of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, security forces attacked them with tear gas.

Videos have been posted on social media, especially Twitter, showing the setting fire to motorcycles belonging to the special police unit at the Istanbul intersection and Ferdowsi Square.

The content of the demonstrators' slogans has gone beyond the formal form and is directed at government leaders, including attacks on the Leader of the Islamic Republic.

Officials' measures following Tehran marketers' strike

According to the deputy governor of Tehran for political and security affairs, meetings will be held with representatives of the protesting unions. He added that some “hostile networks” have announced calls for nationwide rallies and expressed hope that people will not follow suit.

Following the strike and protest demonstrations by Tehran marketers on Sunday and Monday, July 23 and 24, the Deputy Governor of Tehran for Political Affairs and Security announced that a meeting of the provincial supply council would be held to examine the situation in Tehran's market and the demands of the marketers.

According to ILNA, since Monday morning, June 25, shopkeepers in the Kilo Bazaar, cloth sellers, Tehran National Palace, shoemakers, Sabzeh Maidan, Abbas Abad, goldsmiths, and currency sellers had closed their shops.

It is said that the police forces were unable to confront the protesters and were unable to call them to peace.

Abdolazim Rezaei told ILNA News Agency: "Given the convening of the Tehran Provincial Supply Council meeting, necessary arrangements have been made to hold meetings with the protesters and protesting guilds through the Ministry of Industry and Mines and guilds."

As security forces attacked protesters in front of the parliament with tear gas, the deputy governor of Tehran for politics and security told the ILNA news agency: "Ceace has now returned to Tehran's bazaar and we have not had any cases of gatherings or unrest. He said that no one has been arrested so far."

Rezaei warned against the call of some "hostile networks" and said: "We are sure that our people are vigilant and know well the conspiracy of Iran's enemies and will not welcome this call."

The Secretary General of the Islamic Associations of Guilds and Markets emphasized: "We haven't had this kind of movement to close the market for forty years, but today this happened, and it seems to us that the reason for it is solely mismanagement within the country."

In an interview with ILNA reporter, Ahmad Karimi Esfahani said about the current situation in Tehran's market: "Given that some people came to the market and I don't know who they were, but given that the market was ready and there was dissatisfaction among the merchants and the market, they almost closed the market for two or three hours."

Regarding the cause of the protests, Karimi Esfahani directed his attacks at the Rouhani government, adding: "The government should know that there is such a fire under the ashes, the reason for which is the lack of economic stability and our current economic situation. The government and the head of government and his economic team showed extreme carelessness and recklessness in this matter, and at the same time, they were dishonest and spoke to the people with dishonesty, and this became the basis for this."

The Secretary General of the Islamic Associations of Guilds and Markets emphasized: "We haven't had this kind of movement in the market for forty years, where they closed the market, but today this happened, and it seems to us that it is solely due to mismanagement within the country."

Referring to the economic instability in the country, Karimi Esfahani stated: "The prices of goods are constantly increasing, and on the other hand, anyone who sells a product cannot replace it, and no one has anything to sell, and this instability has caused neither buyers nor sellers to be satisfied."
