We demand the immediate and unconditional release of "Golrokh Iraei"

Political, civil, and social activists called for the immediate and unconditional release of Golrokh Iraei.

Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraei is an Iranian civil society and human rights activist who was sentenced to 5 years in prison on charges of insulting sacred places and propagandizing against the Islamic Republic of Iran. After serving her sentence, she was released from prison in Ordibehesht 1401 (May 22, 2022). During the nationwide uprising, Golrokh was re-arrested by security forces at her home in Tehran and transferred to an unknown location. While arresting her at her home, the security forces kicked her in the stomach, causing severe injuries to her back and abdomen.

On 14 Farvardin 1402, the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran sentenced Golrokh, who was arrested in the middle of last month, to six years in prison on charges of “gathering and colluding against the regime” and one year in prison on charges of “propaganda against the regime.” In addition to the prison sentence, she was also banned from leaving the country for two years, banned from being in Tehran for two years, banned from being in parties and groups for two years, and had her mobile phone confiscated.

Now, more than four hundred political, civil, and social activists have issued a statement calling for the immediate and unconditional release of Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraei. In part of this statement, the political activists criticized the arrest, imprisonment, and heavy sentences issued to political and social activists, stating: “After months of uncertainty in detention, Ms. Iraei has been sentenced to 7 years in prison in a desperate, unfair, and spiteful process. By issuing this statement, they called for the unconditional release of Golrokh Iraei.”
