France, Germany, and Britain summon Iranian ambassadors in protest of regime's arrest of dual nationals and human rights violations

According to the Guardian newspaper, France, Germany, and Britain recalled Iran's ambassadors on Wednesday, October 21, in a coordinated protest against the detention of dual nationals in Iran, the Islamic Republic of Iran's treatment of political prisoners, and the country's human rights violations.

On the other hand, the British Foreign Secretary also reacted to the return of Nazanin Zaghari, a British citizen of Iranian descent imprisoned in Tehran, to a prison in Iran, and considered this action by the Iranian government to be out of the ordinary.

According to Reuters, British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, in an interview with Sky News, emphasized the Iranian regime's clear and immediate duty not to detain British citizens, and called the return of Nazanin Zaghari to prison under the current circumstances "out of all common sense."

Meanwhile, Richard Ratcliffe, Mrs. Zaghari's husband, says that as Nazanin's sentence nears its end, she is set to be tried in a new case.

Meanwhile, the Guardian newspaper reported on Tuesday, October 21, that Nazanin Zaghari has filed a complaint with the Tehran prosecutor’s office alleging “harassment” by IRGC officers. According to the newspaper, IRGC agents went to Ms. Zaghari’s parents’ home, where she is under house arrest, and mistakenly accused her of “breaking and untying her handcuffs.” Nazanin Zaghari had been placed under house arrest on bail with an electronic handcuff following the coronavirus outbreak.

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe worked with the Thomson Reuters Foundation, a charity that helps develop media around the world. She was arrested by IRGC officers at the airport in June 2016 as she was about to return from Tehran to London with her young daughter. Ms. Zaghari was sentenced to five years in prison after being tried on charges of participating in the “soft overthrow” of the Islamic Republic through cooperation with foreign institutions and companies.

The United States has repeatedly condemned the Islamic Republic regime's actions in taking foreign nationals and dual-national Iranians hostage for the purpose of extorting and obtaining concessions from other countries, and has called for their immediate and unconditional release.
