Due to lack of proper supervision, a clash led to the death of a prisoner in Adel Abad Prison, Shiraz.

HRANA News Agency – On Wednesday, August 25, following a clash in the Sabz Javan youth center of Adel Abad Prison in Shiraz, an injured prisoner lost his life due to his critical condition.

According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, on Wednesday, August 26, 1402, the fourth unit on the third floor of the Sabz Javan ward of Adel Abad Prison in Shiraz witnessed a violent clash between prisoners.

In this clash, a prisoner from Kavar city, located in Fars province, was injured and died due to his serious condition.

According to an informed source, the prisoner was released from the cell at 3:00 PM after being injured by a wrapped blanket. So far, complete information about the prisoner's identity is not available.

The Green Youth Center has 4 units and holds prisoners aged 18 to 25 for various crimes. A source familiar with the conditions in this ward told HRANA: “In prison, this ward is also known as the Island of Cannibals. The atmosphere in the ward is very violent and 18-year-olds use razor blades to protect themselves and prove that they are very violent.”

According to the prison's internal regulations, making and keeping weapons in prison is considered a crime, and prison officials are required to inspect according to the regulations and ensure the absence of such dangerous devices. However, failure to comply with the law leads to such conflicts and endangers the lives of prisoners.

This is despite the fact that the failure to observe the principle of segregation of crimes and keeping prisoners with different crimes together has led to conflicts between prisoners and in many cases has resulted in severe injuries and deaths of prisoners. In many prisons in the country, a number of political and ideological prisoners are also kept among prisoners accused of violent crimes, contrary to the principle of segregation of crimes.
