A group of shareholders of Mehr Eqtesad Bank in front of the Judiciary building in Tehran, a group of residents of Kordabad, Yazd in front of the Yazd Governorate building, a group of students of Babol University of Medical Sciences on the campus of this university, a number of educators of the Literacy Movement of Khuzestan Province in front of the General Education Building of this province, a few doctoral students of Azad University in front of the Central Organization of Azad University, and a group of staff of Khomeini Hospital, Karaj, on the campus of this hospital, held protest rallies demanding that their demands be addressed.
According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, today, Wednesday, January 7, 2020, a group of young job seekers from the village of Shahroui in Behbahan province gathered in front of the gate of the engineering camp of the Bid Boland 2 refinery in the city to protest unemployment and lack of jobs.
The gathering of these people took place after nearly a year and a half of waiting for these young people to be employed and create jobs for them. In the previous day's gathering, the Behbahan police commander had promised to hold a meeting with relevant officials to attract these young people to the field of work, conditional on ending their gatherings, but the outcome of this meeting ultimately went against the promises made.
This meeting was held in the presence of the refinery management and security chief, the Behbahan police commander, a representative of the Behbahan people, and also Engineer Omidizadeh. It is said that each of the mentioned officials personally employed people at the Behbahan Bid Boland Do refinery without following legal procedures.
Workers' families gather in Shadegan

One of the attendees at the rally said to the officials: "The officials only think about themselves and their children. So when will they help the people? We can't even afford to pay for our babies' milk."
Shareholders' gathering in Tehran
According to Fars, today, Wednesday, January 7, 2020, a group of shareholders of Mehr Eqtesad Bank held a protest rally in front of the Judiciary building to protest the pricing of the bank's shares.
One of the attendees at the rally said: "Shareholders are objecting to the merger and valuation process of the bank's assets because they believe the price set is much lower than its real value."
Another protesting citizen stated: “The share price that has been set is 1400 Tomans, and despite all this inflation and price increases, the value of this bank’s shares has not changed. While the shares of similar banks have witnessed a significant increase during this period. In addition, this bank is profitable based on the bank’s financial statements, and there is no reason for a low price for its shares.”
Citizens gather to protest environmentally destructive activities in Yazd
According to the Free Union of Iranian Workers, today, Wednesday, January 7, 2020, a group of people from Kordabad, Yazd, held a protest rally in front of the Yazd Governorate building to protest environmentally destructive mining activities.
The people of Kordabad village have previously expressed their objections to this type of development, which they consider to be a cause of damage to the environment and nature of the region, and have called for the prevention of destructive mining activities.
Babol University of Medical Sciences students gathering

Protesters present at the rally, chanting slogans such as "The retired military has taken our place" and "We gave our lives, we planted the seeds of literacy," demanded a change in their status and job assignments.
Azad University students gather in Tehran
According to Mehr, on Tuesday, January 6, 2020, a number of Azad University doctoral students gathered in front of the Azad University Central Organization to protest the new circular on the defense of specialized doctoral theses.
At this gathering, students held placards that read: "Compensation for economic recessions and financial pressures on Azad University from the pockets of postgraduate students," "Why is Azad University not accountable to any institution or organization," and "The doctoral defense circular should be canceled."
It is said that part of this circular emphasizes that "all doctoral students who have previously completed their pre-defense but have not succeeded in completing the final defense by November 5 of this year will have their pre-defense "cannot be considered valid" and will need to re-do the pre-defense according to the conditions mentioned."
This is while some protesting students believe that when they have completed the pre-defense or even have an accepted paper, the university invalidates it and says they must do the pre-defense again.
Another part of the circular states: "If a student scores more than five points by presenting one of the scientific achievements specified in the circular and its supplement, he or she can defend and settle the score without submitting a second paper."
However, some students object to this clause, saying that earning more than 5 points means a Q1 paper, which is of a very high level, and that those who even have a Q2 paper are not allowed to defend it.
Gathering of Khomeini Hospital staff in Karaj
According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, on Tuesday, January 6, 2020, a group of staff members of Khomeini Hospital in Karaj held a protest rally on the hospital grounds.
Protesters present at the rally, chanting slogans such as "Enough promises, our table is empty," "Our patience is over, may God grant us justice," and "No nation has ever seen such injustice," demanded the payment of their arrears.
