Head of IRIB: They ordered that the Metropole building collapse story not be discussed further.

The head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting says he has been ordered not to discuss the Metropole building collapse any further.

Peyman Jabali stated on Tuesday, June 23: While the news network was busy covering the Metropole building collapse in Abadan, requests were received from everywhere, and some even orders were received to stop the work.

According to ILNA news agency, the head of the Iranian Broadcasting Corporation, who was speaking to students at Sharif University, said, without mentioning the name of a specific institution or individual, that he had been asked to limit news coverage of the Metropole building to one or two hours.

Regarding news coverage of such events or street protests, Mr. Jabali said: "When protests reach the streets and there is fighting and breaking glass, the responsibility of the IRIB becomes heavy."

On May 9, an audio file was leaked from the director of Radio Farhang of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, warning the network's journalists about publishing news about inflation and calling for censorship of this news.
