Third day of protests over George Floyd's death in Minneapolis; Mayor declares 'state of emergency'

As protests over the death of George Floyd, a black man, while in police custody in Minneapolis continued for the third consecutive night, the city's mayor declared a "state of emergency."
At the same time, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz called on the National Guard to prevent violence during the third night of protests.
On Monday, June 25, a video went viral on social media showing four Minneapolis police officers arriving to arrest a black man named George Floyd, with one officer kneeling on the unarmed man's neck. Floyd repeatedly said he couldn't breathe, but the officers ignored him, and the black man died an hour later in the hospital.
After Floyd's death and the release of a video of his treatment by police, hundreds of people gathered in Minnesota to protest. Some media outlets reported that angry protesters attacked and looted several stores.
The mayor of Minneapolis announced on Tuesday that four Minneapolis police officers have been fired.
Also, on Wednesday, June 27, US President Donald Trump expressed regret over the death of George Floyd and said he had asked the Federal Police and the Department of Justice to investigate the matter.
The US President called the death of this man sad and tragic. He expressed his condolences to George Floyd's family.
The mayor of Minneapolis has filed a criminal complaint against these police officers.
