Global silence in the face of disaster, the need for immediate intervention in "Al-Fasher"

In response to the horrific crimes in El Fasher, the Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) organization called for the immediate intervention of the international community in the Sudanese city.
Recent reports of the horrific situation in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur province in Sudan, indicate a deep crisis that has shaken not only the local population but also the global conscience.
According to the Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), the organization is calling for urgent intervention by the international community in response to “shocking reports of horrific crimes, arbitrary executions and mass killings of civilians in the city of El Fasher.” As the CSW writes, the situation for civilians has deteriorated alarmingly after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) – a powerful militia group accused of committing widespread violence – claimed full control of the city.
General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, commander of the Sudanese armed forces, has confirmed the withdrawal of government forces from El Fasher. Following the withdrawal, communications have been cut off and reports and images have emerged showing arbitrary executions, mass graves and the targeting of women and girls by RSF forces.
CSW's warning is also clear. Mervyn Thomas, the organization's president and founder, described the images released from the city as "horrific" and said that RSF forces are operating with complete impunity.
This situation is occurring in the context of a large-scale war between Sudanese government forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces, a war that has lasted for more than two years and in which civilians have been the main victims. The World Christian Solidarity Organization reports that during the conflict, civilians have faced atrocities such as the bombing of residential areas, attacks on hospitals, loss of communications and widespread displacement.
For example, in areas like Darfur, RSF has been accused of widespread use of sexual violence against women and girls, targeted executions, and ethnic cleansing.
According to a CSW report on October 28, 2025, after RSF announced the capture of El Fasher, “images of RSF forces humiliating, torturing or killing civilians have been published as part of the brutal violence that civilians in El Fasher have endured over the past 18 months.”
International expert sources have also emphasized that RSF has intensified the siege conditions by imposing fences, cutting off water and humanitarian aid, which deepens the risk of genocide or ethnic cleansing.
From a human rights perspective, El Fasher's situation is an example that has prompted international bodies such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR) to intervene specifically.
For a society that believes in the values of human dignity, support for the oppressed, and the worthiness of justice, based on Christian teachings, the realities of El Fasher are a cry for the global conscience. The Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) warned in stark language that this is the voice that must be heard when silence or delay prevails: “RSF forces are acting with complete impunity.”
Calling on Christian communities and churches to sympathize, to participate in the cry of the oppressed, and to contribute to humanitarian and justice-oriented movements is more urgent today than ever.
