Reza Pahlavi issues decree establishing the "Committee for Drafting Transitional Justice Regulations"

Following the transition plan after the Islamic Republic, Prince Reza Pahlavi issued a decree establishing the "Committee for Drafting Transitional Justice Regulations."
As debates about Iran's political future intensify, Reza Pahlavi is among the figures who have attempted to provide a clear framework to chart the path of the Islamic Republic's transition. In the meantime, the issue of "transitional justice" has gained a special place as one of the main pillars of this plan; a concept that has been used in many countries to address human rights violations after transitioning from authoritarian governments.
In his latest move, he announced the formation of a specialized institution to design mechanisms for this justice; an institution that is supposed to both clarify the truth and hold accountable those who violate citizens' rights. This approach reflects an effort to distance himself from the cycle of revenge and move toward justice based on the law.
Prince Reza Pahlavi issued a message regarding the establishment of this committee, which reads as follows:
"My dear compatriots, I speak for you who have been victims of injustice, torture, and repression by the Islamic Republic for the past five decades. For the mothers and fathers, daughters and sons, sisters and brothers grieving and seeking justice, whose numbers and suffering this cruel regime has increased every year, every month, and every day.
Today, with pride and in order to achieve justice for each and every one of you, I have issued a decree establishing the “Transitional Justice Regulations Drafting Committee.” This committee will be tasked with drafting the regulations for a court and a truth-finding commission.
The members of this committee are expert and experienced Iranians from four different generations: Dr. Shirin Ebadi, Mr. Iraj Mosadaghi,
Dr. Leila Bahmani, Dr. Afshin Elian. Ms. Ebadi has accepted the chairmanship of this committee.
The committee will also be assisted by a number of leading international lawyers as advisors. Transitional justice is an important part of our rule of law transition agenda.
The truth will be revealed, justice will be done, and light will triumph over darkness.
"Perseverant Iran"
In this context, the presence of figures such as Shirin Ebadi at the head of this committee indicates an emphasis on a legal and international approach in designing transition mechanisms. Also, the participation of lawyers from abroad can help increase the credibility and compliance of this plan with global standards.
However, like other transitional proposals, the plan faces serious challenges, including how to implement it in complex political circumstances, ensuring the impartiality of judicial institutions, and how to build consensus among the various opposition forces. Critics believe that the success of such a plan depends above all on its level of social acceptance and its operational viability in real conditions.
Overall, the transition plan presented by Reza Pahlavi is an attempt to present a picture of a future based on justice and accountability; a future whose realization will require overcoming political obstacles and creating national cohesion.
