Lack of medical attention to Siamak Amini's condition in prison

Political prisoner Siamak Amini is denied medical attention for his health condition in prison.

Siamak Amini, born in 1962, lives in Tehran and is a former political prisoner from the 1960s who was in prison from 1984 to 1989. He was also a member of the protesters in the nationwide protests of 1972.

In January 1402, IRGC agents raided his home and searched his home, confiscating some of his belongings. Mr. Amini was summoned three times for questioning and was released on bail of five hundred million Tomans at the last interrogation session.

Siamak Amini was sentenced to four years and three months in prison and additional punishment by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, in May 1403. On August 5, after referring to Branch 1 of the Evin Prosecutor's Office for the Execution of Criminal Sentences, he was arrested and transferred to Evin Prison to serve his sentence.

He was sentenced again by Branch 36 of the Tehran Provincial Court of Appeals to 3 years, 6 months, and one day in prison on the charge of "gathering and colluding to commit a crime against internal and external security" and to 7 months and sixteen days in prison on the charge of "propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran." As additional punishments, he was banned from membership in political and social groups and organizations, banned from using a smartphone, and banned from leaving the country for two years.

Now that he is serving his sentence in Evin Prison, despite his poor physical condition, he has been denied admission to the hospital due to his refusal to wear prison clothes. He suffers from Behcet's disease (a rare autoimmune disease) that requires specialized treatment and has caused him skin complications. The prison doctor has requested various tests at the Tajrish Martyrs' Hospital to examine his condition, but yesterday the prison director opposed his admission to the hospital due to his refusal to wear prison clothes.

He had previously been denied medical treatment in prison due to his refusal to wear prison clothes, while the cause of this skin condition may be the wearing of prison clothes that prison officials insist on.
