Chicken prices reach 16,000 tomans per kilo in Iran

Continuing the recent price increase trend in the Iranian market, the price of one kilogram of chicken meat reached 16,000 tomans.
Boroumand Chahar-Ayin, CEO of the National Union of Broiler Farmers, told the Young Journalists Club on Tuesday, March 27, that today the price per kilogram of live chicken at the poultry farm is 10,200 tomans, ready-to-cook chicken at the slaughterhouse is 14,000 tomans, and retail prices are 15,500 to 16,000 tomans.
The significant increase in the price of meat products in Iran, including chicken and mutton, began in early January of this year, with its price increasing by 40% compared to the same period last year.
Previously, some officials in the Islamic Republic had stated that the increase in meat smuggling was one of the reasons for the increase in its price, an issue that has been denied by the law enforcement forces, but at the same time, the Iranian judiciary is calling for a strict legal response to it.
