Taher Ghadirian's mother: My son's physical condition in Evin Prison is critical

The mother of Taher Ghadirian, one of the defendants in the so-called environmental activists case, reported on Wednesday, March 12, that her son had lost weight and his physical condition had worsened in prison.
According to IRNA, Taher Ghadirian's mother said after visiting her son in Evin Prison: "During a recent visit I had with Taher, his physical condition was not good and he had lost a lot of weight."
Taher Ghadirian, along with Sam Rajabi, Amir Hossein Khaleghi, Hooman Jokar, Sepideh Kashani, Niloufar Bayani, Abdolreza Koohpayeh, and Morad Tahbaz, were arrested last year by the Revolutionary Guards' intelligence agency on charges of "spying for foreigners," a charge that the Ministry of Intelligence and the Supreme National Security Council of Iran have denied, but the judiciary and the IRGC insist on.
Taher Ghadirian's mother says that her son has IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and should be treated outside of prison.
He also responded to the question of whether his son's lawyer, who had granted permission for the visit in the fifth session of the court, had succeeded in conducting the visit, stating: "Unfortunately, despite the passage of nearly a month since the judge ordered the visit, this has not yet happened. The reason for this is that when he first approached him for the visit, he was told that the case expert was not present, so the visit was not possible."
He continued: "The second time, when my son's lawyer went to the prison to meet with the experts, they asked the lawyer for a power of attorney book, even though power of attorney books have been electronic for about a year, and because the experts did not accept the electronic power of attorney book, the meeting did not take place again, and we are still waiting for the assistance of the case experts to meet with him."
While five court sessions have been held for these eight environmental activists, the lawyers appointed by these environmental activists are not present in these court sessions, and only three "trusted" lawyers of the judiciary are supposed to defend them.
Meanwhile, Kazem Hosseini, one of these lawyers, had previously reported that Revolutionary Guard agents would not even allow these lawyers to speak to these environmental activists during the court hearing.
IRNA says that the environmental activists' case has eight defendants, and the Revolutionary Court prosecutor has issued indictments for four people on charges of "corruption on earth," three on charges of "espionage," and one on charges of "assembly and collusion against national security."
According to the report, the four defendants in this case were initially charged with espionage, which was later changed to corruption on earth.
International human rights organizations have so far criticized the trial and prosecution of these environmental activists.
In this context, the United Nations Environment Program, while expressing "deep concern" about the trial status of these eight imprisoned environmental activists, called on the government of the Islamic Republic to protect the legal rights of individuals who have dedicated their lives to their country's unique environment.
