Judicial authorities double Haft Tapeh workers' bail; 6 workers remain in detention

Reports indicate that six Haft Tapeh workers are still in detention due to an increase in bail.

The Haft Tapeh Workers' Union reported on Monday, October 5, that the prosecutor and the chief justice of Shush did not agree to the bails of the arrested workers, and that even the previous bails of these workers had been "doubled."

According to this report, bail has been announced for the detained worker Mohammad Khanifar Kargar at 100 million, Yousef Bahmani at 8 million, Ebrahim Abbasi Monjezi and Muslim Cheshmkhavar at 70 million, Mahmoud Khodai at 50 million, and Iman Akhdari at 60 million.

The Haft Tappeh Workers' Union also announced that in the past month, eight cases have been opened against Haft Tappeh sugarcane workers at the Shusha Courthouse.

According to this report, the plaintiff of the workers of this company is actually Omid Asadbeigi, the former employer of the Hafte Tapeh Company.

Labor sources have also reported that the case of the arrested Haft Tappeh sugarcane workers has been referred to the Shusha court. According to these reports, the six arrested Haft Tappeh workers, along with their lawyer Farzneh Zeilabi, appeared at the second branch of the Shusha city prosecutor's office and were informed of the charges.

Haft Tappeh workers' protests began on a large scale in 2018, but were met with a security and judicial crackdown by the government. Ismail Bakhshi, a representative of Haft Tappeh workers, was among the workers who, after being arrested, stated that he had been tortured and was arrested for the second time in February of last year.

The United States has repeatedly condemned Iran's security crackdown on workers. The US State Department also said in a message that the Islamic Republic's regime could have paid the salaries of workers in Iran with the money it spent in Syria.
