Tehran Fire Department: 1,600 elevator accidents occurred in the capital during six days of power outage

Jalal Maleki said that the six days of power outage were "historic days for the fire department," adding that due to this problem, a large number of citizens were stuck in elevators.

A spokesman for the Tehran Municipality Fire Department reported that more than 1,600 elevator accidents occurred in the past six days due to electrical fluctuations and power outages in the capital.

Jalal Maleki said that these six days were "historic days for the Fire Department," adding that a large number of citizens were stuck in elevators due to the power outage.

According to him, a fire station near Azadi Square had only 30 operations for elevator accidents in one day, and a station in eastern Tehran had 25.

Power outages and water shortages in recent weeks have caused many problems in the lives of Iranian citizens.

With the onset of summer, the power outages gradually spread, escalating to widespread blackouts across Iran in the last few days, sparking protests in some cities.

These problems include disruptions in the work of offices and small workshops, hundreds of people getting stuck in elevators, traffic disruptions, citizens' household appliances breaking down, the defeat of the country's chess champions in global online competitions, and the possibility of the loss of corona vaccines in health centers.

Officials in the Islamic Republic have cited a worsening drought, a shortage of ten thousand megawatts of electricity, and cryptocurrency mining as reasons for the power shortage in recent days.
