US sanctions Iran's aerospace centers

The US Treasury Department has imposed new sanctions on Iran's aerospace programs. The sanctions target the Iranian Space Organization, the Aerospace Research Institute, and the Iranian Space Research Center.
Reuters reported on the United States' decision to impose new sanctions on Iran. The US Treasury Department announced on its website on Tuesday, September 3 (September 12), that Washington is imposing sanctions on the Iranian Space Organization, the Aerospace Research Institute and the Space Research Center in order to increase pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran.
This decision comes a few days after the failed launch of an Iranian satellite-carrying rocket at the Semnan Space Center.
The United States considers the explosion at the missile launch pad at the Semnan Space Center to be an indication of Iranian missile activity.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in this regard: "The United States will not allow Iran to use its space program as a cover for its ballistic missile programs."
Mike Pompeo also confirmed that the United States has sanctioned the Iranian Space Organization and two space research centers.
Thus, all individuals who are citizens of the United States or residents of this country will be considered criminals if they have any connection to Iran's space program.
In 2011, the Iranian Space Research Center, as a subsidiary of the Space Research Institute, began operating in the mission areas of "space communications", "space science and exploration", and "remote sensing".
US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew the US from the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran last year. Since then, he has largely pursued a policy of “maximum pressure” through increased sanctions. Trump wants to reach a new deal with Iran over its nuclear and missile programs that would be significantly broader than the current agreement. But Iran is not willing to talk to the US. Iran says its missile program is defensive and its nuclear program is for civilian purposes.
