Letter from 38 civil and political activists to Biden: Maximum pressure on the Islamic Republic should continue

In a letter to US President Joe Biden, 38 Iranian civil and political activists have called for continued "maximum political, diplomatic, and financial pressure" on Iran.

The letter, signed by figures such as Manouchehr Bakhtiari, Mohammad Nourizad, Fatemeh Sepehri, and Heshmatollah Tabarzadi, calls on the US President to support improving the human rights situation in Iran.

The letter also refers to the widespread protests of the Iranian people in the last two years and their bloody suppression by the Iranian government, stating: "The religious government of the Islamic Republic is on the verge of collapse."

The authors also considered the desire of the majority of the Iranian people to "achieve a democratic and secular constitution" and called on the US government to support "the will of the Iranian people for a non-violent transition to a democratic and secular system, through a free and fair referendum."

Some of the people who signed this letter were previously threatened and arrested for signing a statement calling for the resignation of Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic.
