World Health Organization concerned about significant increase in cancer incidence

February 4th is World Cancer Day. The World Health Organization has expressed concern about the significant increase in the incidence of this disease, despite the vast advances made in the fight against cancer.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of a significant increase in cases of this disease worldwide, especially in poor countries, in a report published on Tuesday, February 4, to mark World Cancer Day.

According to the organization's estimates, if serious measures are not taken to combat this disease, cancer cases will increase by 81% in low- and middle-income countries by 2040.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has also pointed out the reasons for this trend in its report. Since poor or low-income countries spend their limited resources on fighting infectious diseases and caring for mothers and newborns, little attention is paid to the necessary measures and programs to fight cancer.

According to Elisabeth Wiederpass, director of the International Agency for Research on Cancer, advances in cancer treatment in rich countries led to a 20 percent reduction in cancer deaths between 2000 and 2015.

This is while this rate reached only five percent in the poor and low-income countries of the world during the same period.

The director of the International Agency for Research on Cancer called for cancer patients around the world to benefit from the advances made in the fight against the disease.

The World Health Organization has predicted in its report that the incidence of cancer worldwide will increase by a total of 60% by 2040.

According to this organization's estimates, if an additional 23 billion euros were invested in the fight against cancer over the next ten years, seven million deaths from cancer could be prevented in these ten years.
