Pope Francis: Stop the Wars in Gaza and Ukraine

Pope Francis, the leader of Catholics worldwide, called for an end to the wars in Gaza and Ukraine.

According to ISNA, Pope Francis said in an interview with CBS NEWS television: “Please, countries that are at war, stop the war. Start negotiations and seek peace. A peace negotiation is better than an endless war.”

He added in his remarks that the very difficult experiences of the people of Gaza must be heard. Pope Francis spoke about these experiences: “Food runs out and they have to fight for it. Children don’t know how to smile. They have forgotten how to smile and when a child forgets how to smile, it is very difficult. This is a real issue, very serious.”

The Pope announced that hundreds of Palestinians have taken refuge in the Roman Catholic Church in Gaza, and he contacts the church daily to learn about the people’s situation. He has found that people are fighting with each other over food supplies.
