German Police Find 16 Refugees in Transport Vehicle

German police officers in Bavaria arrested two human smugglers. The two had transported 16 refugees in a transport vehicle from Austria to Germany. Several Iranians are among these refugees.

Police in the Rosenheim district in the state of Bavaria, Germany reported on Monday, November 7 (October 29) that a cargo vehicle near the “Mittenwald” area in Bavaria on Sunday, November 6, attracted the attention of officers, and after checking the vehicle, they found 16 refugees in the cargo section of the vehicle.

According to police, 12 men, one woman, and three children were sitting on the floor of the cargo area, and these individuals were only given water and bread throughout the journey.

According to the refugees, before boarding this vehicle, they had also traveled in a truck for several days.

Two drivers transported these refugees across the Austria-Germany border into Germany.

The two drivers of this vehicle are citizens of Pakistan and Turkey. The 24-year-old driver is Pakistani, and the other driver is 52 years old and from Turkey. Both drivers have been arrested.

The refugees are citizens of Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, and Iraq. Each of these refugees paid several thousand euros to human smugglers to reach Germany.

It is unclear how many of the refugees in the said vehicle were Iranian.
