Two 16-Year-Old Teenagers Killed in Kamyaran and Shiraz

Reza Kazemi and Mahak Hashemi are two 16-year-old youths who lost their lives in Kamyaran and Shiraz as a result of being struck by live ammunition and baton blows to the head.

Following the recent nationwide protests in Iran, security forces of the Islamic Republic have taken the lives of two more teenagers. Reza Kazemi, 16, was shot with live ammunition during last week’s protests in the Moches area of Kamyaran, and after being shot, he was left on a street corner covered in blood. According to human rights sources, Reza Kazemi passed away yesterday (Sunday, December 27) after spending six days hospitalized.

Mahak Hashemi was also attacked by security forces on Thursday (December 24) and died as a result of baton blows. Her lifeless body was handed over to her family after a large sum of money was paid. Mahak’s family was placed under government pressure not to publicize news of her death.

According to an eyewitness account, severe blows were inflicted on one side of Mahak’s head, to the extent that half of her face was completely bruised.

Mahak Hashemi’s body was buried on Saturday, December 26 in Bandar Kangan, Bushehr, and her third and seventh day commemoration ceremonies were held simultaneously yesterday (Sunday, December 27).

The deaths of these two 16-year-old teenagers were confirmed at a time when more than 60 children have been killed in Iran’s protests so far. Meanwhile, UNESCO has condemned the killing of individuals under 18 years of age in Iran.
