Child marriage: A 14-year-old girl marries to escape her father's wishes

A 14-year-old teenage girl in Tehran, after being forced by her father to marry a man, ran away from home and officially and legally married an almost 18-year-old boy.

According to HRANA news agency, citing Rokna, a 14-year-old teenage girl in Tehran officially and legally married an almost 18-year-old boy.

According to this report, on Wednesday, April 27, 1402, a father went to the 27th District Prosecutor's Office in Tehran to report the disappearance of his 14-year-old daughter, following which a team of officers from the 11th Department took action on the orders of the investigator.

Detectives initially discovered that the teenage girl had been in a relationship with a boy around 18 years old for some time.

At this point, the officers realized that the teenage boy had also left the house the same day the teenage girl disappeared and had not returned.

The boy's father said in his statement: "My son recently married a teenage girl and they ran away together, but I promise to bring them back home."

Following the police investigation, officers found the teenage boy and girl and took them to the Tehran Criminal Affairs Prosecutor's Office.

The teenage girl told the investigator in her statement: "A while ago, I found out that my father, following the death of my mother, was planning to marry a young girl, and in return, I had to marry one of the men in the young girl's family. But I was interested in another boy and I was not willing to return to our home."

He added: "I ran away from home with my favorite boy and we officially got married."

According to this report, because no kidnapping took place in this case, the case was closed on the orders of Investigator Sohrabi.
