Arrest of "Amir Shahvelayati" and "Mateen Hassani" among those affected by nationwide protests

Amir Shahvelayati and Matin Hassani, two of those who suffered eye injuries during the nationwide protests yesterday, were arrested.

According to reports from the human rights organization "Hengaw", Amir Shah Velayati was arrested yesterday, Tuesday, February 23, after being summoned to the Evin Prosecutor's Office and transferred to Evin Prison. Matin Hassani was also arrested yesterday in the city of Bukan.

Amir Shahvelayati and Matin Hassani were shot by security forces during nationwide protests last year, each losing the sight in one eye. Amir Shahvelayati was arrested in May of this year and released on bail after two months.

In recent weeks, Matin Hassani also posted pictures of himself on social media showing him at the graves of those killed in the protests. He was arrested two days after posting a picture of himself at the grave of Yalda Aghafazli, one of the victims of the nationwide protests.

The Islamic Republic regime, which is even afraid of the presence of people at the graves of the victims of the Women, Life, and Freedom protests, continues to arrest them and interrogate and torture them again. Now, after being physically and mentally harmed by regime agents, Amir Shahvelayati and Matin Hassani have been arrested again by the prosecutor's office where they had gone to explain their statements. Amir Shahvelayati has been accused of "propaganda against the regime," "membership in a rebel group," and "actions against national security."

The Islamic Republic's judicial system has not yet commented on the arrest of the two injured protesters.
