Gantz: Nuclear Iran fuels arms race in the region

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz believes that the danger of the Islamic Republic of Iran equipping itself with nuclear weapons is greater than the threat to Israel's security. Gantz has emphasized that a nuclear-armed Iran would be the beginning of a widespread arms race in the Middle East.

The Israeli Defense Minister has called on all countries in the world to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from equipping itself with nuclear weapons before it is too late.

The Times of Israel newspaper published a report on the statements of Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz. In an interview with Israeli Channel 12 TV, Gantz said, among other things: "Equipping Iran with nuclear weapons not only poses a threat to Israel and increases its aggressive approach in the region, but could even fuel an arms race in the region and jeopardize the security of many countries."

Gantz has said that if this were to happen, it would mean that advanced weapons would be placed in the hands of unstable and irresponsible governments controlled by "terrorists."

Benny Gantz referred to the dangers posed by the Islamic Republic's nuclear activities at a time when Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett met and discussed the same issue with US President Joe Biden on Friday, August 27.

During that meeting, Biden assured the Israeli Prime Minister that the United States would prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, but now he wants to advance diplomatic efforts.
