Human rights organization: At least 20 protesters arrested in Kermanshah

On Tuesday, August 25, the human rights organization "Hengeo" announced the arrest of 20 residents of the town of Mahdieh who had taken to the streets for the second day to protest the lack of water and electricity and also to support the protests of the people of Ahvaz.

On Monday, these people blocked the streets leading to this town to protest the lack of water and electricity and also supported the protests of the people of Ahvaz.

Hengaw reported, citing its sources, that more than 20 citizens have been arrested by security agencies and transferred to an unknown location, of which nine have been identified so far.

A resident of Mahdiyeh town (Dare Dreij neighborhood) said: "This neighborhood has been completely secured, and in addition to arresting citizens, security agencies have searched their homes and completely destroyed the homes of a number of them."

Hengaw has released videos showing security forces shooting at protesters.

Over the past few days, several provinces in the country have held widespread protests in support of Khuzestan protesters against the water shortage crisis.

Security forces have arrested dozens of people during these protests, and according to the latest reports, at least nine people have been killed in Khuzestan by security forces.

Despite the security situation and internet shutdown, protests have continued in Khuzestan for the past 12 days.
