Why? Because of participating in the Azr 16 program at the university. Again Azr 16.. Again the university.. which is the last bastion of freedom pic.twitter.com/vQd5mJKYzv

It is said that this ruling was issued following the arrest of Fereshteh Toosi for participating in the December 7, 2016 ceremony and on charges of propaganda against the regime.
This student activist was detained by IRGC intelligence for 8 days after participating in that event.
The issuance of this prison sentence for the student activist comes at a time when the heavy sentences handed down to students arrested during the protests in January of last year have also made headlines and sparked protests.
Students at Tehran and Allameh Tabatabaei universities protested the 5- to 8-year prison sentences for these students, but the Tehran prosecutor rejected the protests and attributed some of the arrested students to specific political movements.
Some members of parliament also criticized the government for arresting the students based on a report from the Ministry of Intelligence, and for not taking specific action to clear them of the charges.
