Spiegel news magazine revealed a message to Iran and Washington from diplomatic circles of Brussels that the European Union is seeking for new sanctions against Iran.
The latest news of this magazine (released on January 20th); Germany, France and Britain are also following to arrange the new sanctions against Iran. With these sanctions the European Union wants to confront with Iran’s unstable politics.
According to SPIEGEL; Iran supports the Houthi rebels in Yemen’s war as well as Hizbullah militias in Lebanon. Also helps Bashar al-assad by sending military aids with civilian aircrafts in Syria’s war.
Spiegel added: Germany tries to persuading the European partners for the new sanctions; firstly for targeting Iran’s missile program and show up that they’re not indifferent about Iran’s policies and secondly to tell the president of USA ,Donald Trump, that they’re serious about his criticisms on Iran’s nuclear deal.
But the main purpose of the EU is to keep this deal which was made in 2015 between Iran, P5+1 and the European Union. Donald Trump called this agreement as ‘the worst deal in American history’, He also threatens to end it.
The president of the United States has given the European partners an opportunity until mid-May 2018 to resolve the ‘terrible defects’ of this agreement.
Keeping this Deal at any cost
SPIEGEL writes in a report that the EU wants to maintain this agreement at any cost.
German’s minister of foreign affairs, Sigmar Gabriel, in the last meeting with Federica Mogherini and her British and French counterparts, said; if the west cancels the only nuclear deal that works well, it’ll send unpleasant symptoms for example to the North Korea.
He added that the IAEA has confirmed that Iran has followed all the details of this agreement.
Europeans agree with that the nuclear deal should be separated from the conflicts and discords with Iran and they have been reached this idea that the new sanctions should be about Iran’s missile program, “said Spiegel”. The European Union wants to eliminate Trump’s concerns and doubts with these sanctions also avoids any harms to the treaty.
