We are deeply sorrowed to share that Reverend Henry Manokian has passed away today, December 22nd 2016 at 7:50 in the morning in Ankara Turkey due to heart failure. He is now reunited with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Rev. Henry Manokian, husband to Marina and father to three girls by the names Tatyana, Anastasia & Svetlana had taken refuge in Turkey after being forcibly exiled from Iran and after years of persecution against him and his family from the Islamic regime of Iran. He was having a very hard time in Turkey as a refugee.
Having witnessed the transfer of Bibles from Iran’s AOG church to special vehicles, Henry endured two heart strokes but with God’s grace he was saved and continued to live and serve the Lord. But these mental pressures and persecutions lead to a severely bad physical condition for Henry in the past 5 months. His problem started from his liver and after some time led to the failure of his kidneys. He was dialyzed several times a week because of this failure. Today, before attending his dialyze session, he had a heart failure and he passed away despite attempts of resuscitation by the medical team.
Henry Manokian was born in 1954 in Tehran, Iran. Although he was born into a Armenian Christian family, he had a law-like point of view towards Christianity and he hadn’t received a relationship with the Lord and he hadn’t been reborn from the spirit. Henry got addicted to Heroin when he was young and based on his testimony, the devil had turned everything in his life black and dark. But the Lord had a great plan for his son.
In June 15th 1979, while he was imprisoned in Tehran’s Ghasr prison, Henry decided to give his heart, soul and life to Jesus Christ the living God after hearing about Jesus being the ‘Son of God’. He was reborn from the spirit that day. From that day on, Henry Manokian stepped into an intimate relationship with the Lord, Jesus Christ.
God brought back his health and joy. Henry understood the liberating power in believing in Christ and therefore devoted his life to serving Jesus and His word. He blessed many who were captivated by addiction through his ministry.
But the Islamic regime became an enemy of Henry from the early days of his ministry in Iran. They did everything they could to stop Henry and other servants of God’s word from evangelizing and sharing the truth with others. These pressures and persecutions continued even until Henry’s time in Turkey.
Henry married Marina in 1985. The fruit of this marriage are three daughters. Henry & Marina lived alongside one another with love, intimacy and God’s blessings for 31 years.
Henry Manokian was ordained as a pastor in 2005 after 26 years of faithfulness in serving the Lord. He & his ministry were the reasons hundreds of individuals were saved, changed and transformed in Iran and in Turkey.
On behalf of Farsi Christian News Network (FCNN), 222 Ministries International and Assemblies of God in Iran, we share our deepest condolences with the Manokian family. We ask the Lord for patience and Christ-like peace for our beloved sisters.
And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!” – Revelation 14:13
Reverend Henry Manokian’s funeral will take place in Ankara, Turkey by the deacons of 222 Ministries International & Assemblies of God Iran.
