Brother of Hossein Ronaghi Maleki Reports Possibility of Release of Iranian Human Rights Activist

Hossein Ronaghi Maleki’s brother reported on Wednesday, the 11th of Esfand, about the possibility of releasing this Iranian human rights activist and blogger, who has been in detention since the 4th of Esfand.
Hasan Ronaghi Maleki, in a message on Twitter, while announcing the news of the possibility of Hossein Ronaghi Maleki’s release following the posting of bail, wrote: “We hope that no new excuses arise and Hossein comes out of prison by evening.”
He had previously reported in recent days about the conversion of Hossein Ronaghi’s detention order to a bail order.
Hossein Ronaghi Maleki was arrested on the 4th of Esfand after receiving several anonymous phone calls by security forces. After a few days, in a contact with his family, he announced that he had begun a dry hunger strike and would continue this strike until his release.
Ahmad Ronaghi Maleki, his father, on the 7th of Esfand in an exclusive video file sent to Voice of America, referring to the fact that Hossein Ronaghi Maleki was abducted on the street, held “the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, system and IRGC commanders, the National Intelligence Organization and the judiciary” responsible for his son’s life and demanded his urgent release, saying: “If he suffers the slightest problem, these individuals and institutions should be accountable to the United Nations in the future.”
Hossein Ronaghi Maleki, who wrote blogs under the pseudonym Babak Khorramdin in Iran, was first arrested after the 2009 events and then sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was released after three years in July 2012, but was arrested again later while helping earthquake victims in Azerbaijan.
This human rights activist in Iran was arrested again in 2014, and despite having a medical certificate of “inability to endure imprisonment” from doctors, he was transferred to prison and was finally released from prison in May 2016, after approximately 40 days of hunger strike.
The U.S. State Department has repeatedly condemned the Islamic Republic’s violent treatment of the Iranian people under various pretexts, and the repeated and continuous violation of Iranian citizens’ rights, including freedom of expression and freedom of the press by government agents.
