Dire and Critical Condition of Khaled Pirzadeh

Khaled Pirzadeh is in a very dire and critical condition following his release from prison.

“Khaled Pirzadeh” is a bodybuilding champion, civil and political activist, constitutional monarchist supporter, and political prisoner. After enduring imprisonment for several years, he was released on the current week, February 12 (13 Bahman).

Images of Khaled Pirzadeh following his release show signs of torture during his imprisonment. This political prisoner has experienced severe weight loss and has lost his physical mobility.

Khaled’s wife has posted a video of him on social media depicting his critical condition. According to her, Khaled, who was an athlete and national champion weighing 130 kilograms, has been reduced to this state. Following the release of this video, Khaled’s wife announced that in the past 24 hours he has suffered multiple seizures and his hands and feet have become locked.

She continues: I cannot describe my pain and suffering in words. Khaled cannot stand and is constantly attached to a feeding tube. He is today a collection of illnesses and lacks even the ability to eat.

Khaled endured severe physical and psychological torture during interrogation. Not only was he threatened with rape, but his wife and young daughter were also threatened with sexual assault. Pirzadeh had spoken about his torture during interrogation leave. Interrogators had placed a noose around his neck twice to instill terror.

Khaled had said: “During the first days of interrogation, because I was an athlete with a strong body in good shape weighing 127 kilograms, they showed me no mercy and tortured me to the point of death. They would place my hands between the metal door of the interrogation room and slam it shut.

Additionally, two people sat on my knees from the sides, and since there was empty space under my knees, my knee broke and dislocated. The cruciate ligament, ACL and PCL in my foot were torn.

He again announced that in protest against the pressures exerted on him and his family, he went on a hunger strike by sewing his lips shut, and later also sewed his right eyelid shut. As a result of severe torture, my lumbar vertebrae protruded and my tailbone was fractured, and although I have undergone surgery on my foot, I still walk with a cane.”

Unfortunately, Khaled has become wheelchair-bound following his release and is going through difficult days. It is unclear what other afflictions, besides severe torture, the Islamic Republic’s prison has inflicted upon Khaled Pirzadeh that has reduced him to this state.
