Calls for expulsion of Iranian ambassador from Britain after controversial message and attack on Jews in London

A stabbing attack on two Jewish men in London has sparked a wave of concern and anger after the Islamic Republic's embassy issued a provocative message urging Iranians to sacrifice themselves for their homeland; religious leaders have seen the developments as a sign of increasing threats against minorities and have called on the British government to take immediate action, including expelling the Iranian ambassador, to ensure the safety of society.

Following a controversial message from the Islamic Republic of Iran’s embassy in the UK and a stabbing attack on two Jewish citizens in London, Britain’s Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirwais called for the immediate expulsion of the Iranian ambassador. These events have raised serious concerns about the safety of religious minorities and the role of political provocations in escalating violence, drawing the attention of public opinion and government officials.

The incident began when the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran published a message in Persian on the social network Telegram, in which it called on Iranians living in the UK to sacrifice themselves for their homeland and remain loyal to their country. The message, which was interpreted by some observers as a call for extremist actions, sparked widespread reactions.

A day after the message was posted, two Jewish men were stabbed and injured by an assailant in London's Golders Green. A group called the "Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya Movement," which is said to be linked to the Iranian government, claimed responsibility for the attack. The timing has led many observers to express concern about a possible link between the provocative atmosphere and the attack.

Rabbi Mirwais reacted sharply to these developments, saying: “We wonder how this is possible! On Tuesday, the Iranian embassy called on Iranians in Britain to “be loyal to your country” and even risk their lives. This is essentially a call to martyrdom. The next day, we see someone trying to stab Jews in London!”

He also referred to the actions of some countries and added: "How is it that the Iranian ambassador was expelled in Australia, and also in Lebanon and other countries, their ambassadors have been expelled, but why is the Iranian ambassador still here?"

Following these events, the British Foreign Office summoned the Islamic Republic's ambassador, Seyyed Ali Mousavi, and the London Metropolitan Police announced that it was investigating the content of the message and its possible connection to the attack. However, no official decision to expel him has been announced yet.

The events have once again highlighted concerns about rising threats against the Jewish community in Europe. Religious leaders and civil society organizations warn that any provocative messages or actions can quickly lead to real violence, and they are calling on governments to deal with these threats more decisively.

In this regard, Rabbi Mirwais has called for a national emergency and warned of what he described as "terrorist activities sponsored by the Iranian government," a warning that could affect British security policies in the coming days.
