Fire at Amirkabir Petrochemical Plant in Mahshahr

For the umpteenth time in recent months, another fire incident has occurred in Iran's petrochemical industry. The Amirkabir petrochemical plant in Mahshahr suffered an accident that left no casualties.

According to Iranian media reports, a fire at the Amir Kabir Petrochemical Plant in Bandar Mahshahr has been contained. The fire broke out on Wednesday, July 14, in the chemical storage area of the plant.

The IRNA news agency, citing Iran Sherkat's public relations, wrote that this "minor fire" was contained with the efforts of firefighters from the complex and the Special Economic Zone Organization.

According to Amirkabir Petrochemical Company's public relations, there were no casualties in the incident. No report has been released on the cause of the incident or the extent of possible damages.

According to IRNA, the black smoke from this fire can also be seen with the naked eye from Mahshahr Port.

On Tuesday, July 12, a fire broke out at the Tondgoyan petrochemical waste warehouse in Mahshahr city.

In recent months, the number of fires and accidents in Iran's vital industries has increased.

An explosion in the Susa oil and gas pipeline, a massive fire in the Karaj special road warehouses, a fire in the Zarand Iranian steel factory, a fire in the South Tehran refinery, and an explosion at the Sepahan Chemical Industries Company in Isfahan are among the incidents in recent months.

In most cases, the possibility of sabotage has been denied by officials, but some security experts believe that there is a possibility that these incidents were intentional to hurt Iran's critical economic situation.
