Protesting firefighters gathered in front of Tehran Municipality

A group of firefighters held a protest rally in front of the Tehran Municipality building on Tuesday, March 2nd, demanding that their demands be addressed.

Low wages, insurance status, housing problems, and lack of hard work in salaries are among the issues that firefighters are protesting against.

During their rally, firefighters chanted slogans such as "Promises are empty, our table is empty" and "If our problem is not solved, the rally will be repeated."

"This year's Wednesday of the Dead, a strike of strikes" and "Firefighters die, they will not accept humiliation" were other slogans heard at the firefighters' rally.

In January of this year, another protest rally was held in front of Tehran Municipality with the participation of hundreds of firefighters, during which the firefighters protested the lack of job safety and their living conditions and demanded the resignation of Mehdi Davari, the CEO of the Tehran Fire Department.

The protest was held on the fifth anniversary of the Plasco building fire and collapse, an incident in which 16 firefighters lost their lives.

The livelihood crisis and rampant inflation in Iran have led to numerous protest rallies by different segments of society, including teachers, workers, and retirees, in recent months.

These protests have in some cases led to the repression and arrest of protesters by government officials.
