Nahid Taghavi's trial begins on "security" charges in the Islamic Revolutionary Court

Tehran's Revolutionary Court has begun the trial of Nahid Taghavi, a dual Iranian-German citizen, on charges of acting against national security. Maryam Klaren has expressed concern about her mother's physical condition. The date of the next court session is unclear.
The first hearing of Nahid Taghavi's trial was held in Branch 26 of Tehran's Islamic Revolutionary Court on April 28. It has been said that the next hearing of her trial will be held soon. However, an exact date for this hearing has not been announced.
AFP reported on Wednesday, April 28, the first hearing of Nahid Taghavi's trial. Nahid Taghavi, 66, was arrested in her Tehran apartment in October of last year.
According to information published by the international human rights community, Nahid Taghavi was a civil activist and a defender of women's rights and freedom of expression.
Maryam Klaren, the daughter of Nahid Taghavi, announced in a Twitter post that her mother's trial has begun in the aforementioned branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Tehran. Nahid Taghavi's daughter also expressed her ignorance of the date of the next hearing of her mother's trial.
Maryam Klaren said that her mother was granted the right to visit her brothers after seven months in prison, while Nahid Taqvi's brothers were barred from attending her trial.
Officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran have considered Nahid Taghavi's accusations to be "security-related" and have accused her of propagandizing against the regime.
Maryam Klarne told an AFP reporter that her mother was an architect and is currently imprisoned in Evin Prison.
Nahid Taghavi's daughter has also announced that her mother has been in solitary confinement for the past four weeks. Maryam Klaren has expressed concern about her mother's health condition in Evin Prison.
According to statements by Maryam Klaren, her mother's defense attorney, she gained access to the text of her client's indictment and case file for the first time last Saturday after several months.
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas also announced in October last year that he had been informed of the arrest of this dual Iranian-German citizen.
The international human rights community has declared Nahid Taqvi innocent and called for the immediate release of this civil activist and women's rights defender.
