Official coronavirus statistics in Iran: 63 more patients die, warning about the situation in 7 provinces

On Sunday, June 1, the spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Health announced the death of 63 more patients infected with the coronavirus, bringing the total to 7,797, according to the official statistics of the Ministry of Health.
Kianoush Jahanpour also named the provinces of Isfahan, East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, Lorestan, Kermanshah, Hormozgan, and Sistan and Baluchestan as provinces that are in a "state of alert" regarding the spread of the coronavirus.
Regarding the total number of people infected with the coronavirus in Iran, he also announced the identification of 2,516 new patients infected with the coronavirus in the country, saying that the total number of coronavirus patients in Iran has reached 151,446.
The Ministry of Health's statistics on the coronavirus situation in Iran are being published at a time when some members of parliament and city council members have previously accused the Ministry of Health of concealing the number of deaths and infections from coronavirus.
The Parliamentary Research Center previously estimated in a report that the number of deaths was double and the number of infected people was 8 to 10 times higher than the Ministry of Health's figures.
In today's press conference, the Ministry of Health spokesperson also announced that 118,848 patients have recovered and said that 2,527 of the patients are under intensive care.
20 Khuzestan counties in red status, alarm in West Azerbaijan
Mohammad Alavi, the deputy health director of Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences, said that out of 28 cities in Khuzestan Province, 20 cities are in "red status" in terms of the spread of the coronavirus.
According to IRNA, he cited "people gathering before Eid al-Fitr and attending markets" as the main factors behind the spread of the coronavirus in the province, and said that according to provincial officials, if "conditions worsen, we will reimpose restrictions."
IRNA also quoted Javad Aghazadeh, president of West Azerbaijan University of Medical Sciences, as saying that the "second wave alarm" of coronavirus has sounded in this province.
The local official did not provide statistics on the coronavirus outbreak, but said: "Over the past week or so, there has been a significant increase in the number of people infected with the coronavirus in the province."
On the other hand, Murad Ali Tatar, the governor of Qasr Shirin, also referred to the "worrying" increase in people infected with the coronavirus, saying: "Over the past few days, we have faced a surge in the coronavirus in the country, and some provinces, including Kermanshah, are on alert."
57% of Tehran residents observe social distancing
Anoushirvan Mohseni Bandpay, the governor of Tehran, also told the ILNA news agency that nationwide, an average of 82 percent of people have observed social distancing, but in Tehran this rate is "57 percent."
He also pointed out the lack of facilities in the capital, saying that the province was "below the national average in terms of health and medical facilities."
According to the governor of Tehran, despite such problems, the percentage of recoveries is "higher" than the national average, and the death rate from coronavirus in Tehran is "lower" than the national average.
Deputy Minister of Health: Our biggest fear is that Corona will become normal
Alireza Raisi, Iran's Deputy Minister of Health, has said that our biggest fear is "corona becoming normal," which is "much more dangerous" than the coronavirus.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday morning, June 1, he noted that in some cities and provinces, social distancing measures were not being observed, and said that "the worst city in terms of observing health protocols was Tehran. The province in the south that observed the protocols the least was Khuzestan province."
