The Iranian Ministry of Health announced the death of 43 more patients infected with the coronavirus in Iran in the 24 hours ending on Tuesday, December 20.

According to this report, during the same period, 2,413 new patients with coronavirus were identified and 376 of them were hospitalized.

Including today's official statistics, the number of coronavirus victims in Iran has reached 131,167 and the number of infected people has reached 6,175,782.

Two thousand,835 patients with COVID-19 are in critical condition in intensive care units of hospitals.

Daily coronavirus statistics are being made available to the media while independent sources have serious doubts about their accuracy.

Currently, no cities in Iran are in red or orange status, but 53 cities are in yellow status and 395 cities are in blue status.

As the number of people infected with the Omicron strain of coronavirus increases in Iran and around the world, medical sources have urged people to be sensitive to the symptoms of the disease and take the possibility of its widespread spread seriously.

Among them, Milad Alavi, a specialist in infectious diseases, has warned of the possibility of an outbreak of this new strain in Iran.

Arash Roghani, head of the Shahrekord County Medical System Organization, pointed out the high contagiousness of this new strain and said that "prevention and strict adherence to health protocols are the way to combat and contain this mutated coronavirus."

Referring to the entry of this strain into the country, he added that other provinces will soon be involved in the circulation of this virus, and for this reason, eligible individuals should take action to receive the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine to reduce the severity of the virus if they contract it.
