US says Iran's lack of cooperation with IAEA 'narrows the field for diplomacy'

The US representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency told the Board of Governors on Tuesday, June 8, that Iran's move to place restrictions on the inspection and verification of its nuclear activities is narrowing the field for diplomacy.

Referring to the Vienna talks, Louise Bono, the US chargé d'affaires to international organizations, said that Iran's lack of cooperation with the Agency will prevent the Islamic Republic from achieving the results it expects from the talks.

On behalf of the United States, Bono called on Iran to cooperate with the Agency's inspection and access to relevant information, because, according to him, otherwise, reaching an agreement on mutual compliance with the JCPOA obligations by Iran and the United States would be complicated.

The US representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency warned that Iran's defiance of this request is inconsistent with the country's claim that it wants both sides to adhere to the agreement.
