The United States has sanctioned several entities and individuals for financing the IRGC and Houthis.

The US Treasury Department announced that it has sanctioned several entities and individuals for their involvement in financing the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and Yemen's Houthi militia. The US has also removed three former Iranian officials from its sanctions list.

The US Treasury Department issued a statement on Thursday, June 10, announcing that it had sanctioned "several members of a smuggling network that provides millions of dollars in funds to the Iran-backed Houthis."

The statement said that the network, led by a man named Saeed al-Jamal, earned "tens of millions of dollars" from the sale of goods such as Iranian fuel, and that a large portion of this income reached the Yemeni Houthis through a network of intermediary groups and exchange offices in several countries.

The individuals targeted include two Yemenis, two Syrians, one Emirati, one Somali, and one Indian national.

Institutions are also based in Dubai, Istanbul, and Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, which is in the hands of the Houthis.

The US Treasury Department stated in the same statement that since the beginning of the civil war in Yemen, the country's Houthi militias have relied on assistance from the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The ministry also announced the removal of the names of three former Iranian officials from its sanctions list.

A statement published on the Treasury Department's website said that Ahmad Qalehbani, the former CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, has been removed from the sanctions list.

In addition, two companies that were previously on the sanctions list for acquiring, selling, transferring, or marketing Iranian petrochemical products have been removed from the US sanctions list.

The Treasury Department says that this lifting of sanctions was due to a change in the behavior or status of these sanctioned individuals and entities, and this action demonstrates Washington's commitment to lifting sanctions if behavior changes.
