“Ibrahim Parsamehr” Lawyer for Christians Under Pressure from Judicial Authorities

“Ibrahim Parsamehr,” a lawyer for Christians and protesters, has come under pressure from judicial authorities.

Ibrahim Parsamehr, a licensed lawyer at the court, took on the representation of some Christians and protesters during last year’s nationwide protests. An arrest warrant for Ibrahim Parsamehr was issued in Esfand 1401 (March 2023), and Hadi Hatamian, the prosecutor of Branch 2 of the General and Revolutionary Court of Ahvaz, issued the arrest order in Farvardin 1402 (April 2023) through a letter to the commander of Ahvaz Police Station 15.

According to an informed source in Ahvaz, Mr. Parsamehr has handled cases of Christians and active educators in the province, including those from Izeh and Baghmelk, since 2011, and is a trusted figure among the people of this province. However, he is now under arrest pressure from the judicial system on charges of “anti-regime propaganda activities” and “spreading falsehoods to disturb public opinion.” As we approach the anniversary of the revolution, the arrest and summons of political and ideological activists have intensified, and Ibrahim Parsamehr’s arrest has been added to this list.

It is worth noting that Ibrahim Parsamehr was beaten by plainclothes agents in December 2022, resulting in injuries severe enough to require hospitalization. After announcing that he would take on the pro bono representation of protesters arrested during the protests, he was attacked again by regime forces. As a result of this attack, not only did his nose suffer severe damage, but he also sustained heavy blows to his head that caused him suffering for months. Ibrahim Parsamehr’s life is in serious danger.

To maintain its rule, the Islamic Republic system resorts to every crime, including the arrest and killing of specialists, political and ideological activists, protesters, university professors, ordinary people, and others.
