Concubine marriage set a woman on fire in Tehran

A man in Tehran set fire to his concubine and her house.

Concubine marriages in Iran have become more widespread in recent years, as women enter into temporary marriages to meet their living needs, overcome family poverty, and address many other issues that indicate the poverty of society. In some cases, they not only cause many problems, including unwanted pregnancies, in their lives and those of their children, but also sometimes cause irreparable harm to themselves and their children.

In recent years, we have also witnessed the media portrayal of people who were victims of concubine marriages. There were even children and teenagers who were victims of temporary marriages.

Now, a woman in Tehran has fallen victim to a concubine marriage along with her young child, which resulted in her being burned alive.

According to the HRANA news agency, the case of a man who set fire to his concubine and her house in Tehran yesterday has been referred to the Tehran Provincial Criminal Court.

Yesterday, police officers were notified of a house fire in southern Tehran, which was followed by news of a woman named "Mehrsa" who was injured in the fire and taken to the hospital, prompting police officers to go to the hospital to follow up on the incident.

According to the statements of the woman injured in the fire, she had been concubine to a man named "Samiar" for a month. According to Mehrsa's claims, Samiar was a very violent man, and considering Mehrsa's claim of loving him, his violence was so severe that Mehrsa decided not to extend the concubine period.

Mehrsa continued: "Samiar was against the separation and wanted the concubine period to be extended again. One day, when we were at home with my young son, Samiar entered the house with a gallon of gasoline. He poured gasoline on me and everywhere in the house, and before he could light the lighter, he threw my son out of the room. He lit the lighter and I caught fire, and he immediately ran away. I wrapped a blanket around myself and put out the fire, and at that moment the neighbors arrived and put out the flames in the house and took me to the hospital."

Mehrsa's hands, feet, parts of her body, and face are burned and she is still receiving treatment, but she is unable to perform personal tasks or care for her young child.

Samyar was also arrested after some time and confessed to his actions against his concubine and her house, claiming that he did not intend to kill Mehrsa and only intended to scare her into continuing the concubine marriage.

The aforementioned case has been sent to Branch 11 of the Tehran Provincial Criminal Court for consideration, and the above-mentioned defendant will be tried soon.
