Amnesty International Exposition: Mazandaran Military Command Issues "Deadly Encounter" Sentence

On Friday, October 28, Amnesty International called for action by the international community, noting that military authorities in the Islamic Republic's government have ordered a "brutal" and "death-level" crackdown on nationwide protests.
According to Amnesty International, which says it has obtained an official document, the General Staff of the Armed Forces has ordered the commanders of the armed forces in all provinces of Iran to "take a decisive and serious action" against protesters who have taken to the streets following the death of Mahsa (Zina) Amini in the custody of the "Guidance Patrol."
According to information from Iran, the same words in the document leaked from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic are "decisive and serious confrontation" and the same words from the Mazandaran Military Command are "merciless and deadly confrontation."
This international human rights organization emphasizes that the leaked document could explain the reasons for the widespread use of live ammunition by Iranian security forces against protesters across the country and why dozens of people were killed on the evening of September 21 alone.
Amnesty International has stated that it has so far been able to record the names of 52 people who have died in recent protests since the nationwide protests in Iran began on September 15.
Amnesty International says that the evidence obtained shows that the Islamic Republic authorities have brutally suppressed the protests by deploying the Revolutionary Guard Corps, Basij, law enforcement, riot police, and plainclothes forces.
Agnes Callamard, Secretary-General of Amnesty International, has also emphasized that without decisive collective action from the international community, countless more people face the risk of death, amputation, torture, sexual assault or imprisonment simply for participating in the protests.
The organization calls on the international community to go beyond issuing statements and take practical steps to prevent the deaths of more Iranian citizens.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Organization, "at least 83 people" have been killed by the Islamic Republic's security forces in the ongoing nationwide protests that began with the death of Mahsa Amini on September 15 following her arrest by the "Irshad Patrol."
