Experts and activists criticize Rouhani: Take back the title of the most environmentally friendly government from your cabinet

Nearly one hundred environmental experts, journalists, and activists signed a letter addressed to Hassan Rouhani, criticizing the government's policies and calling on him to withdraw the title of "the most environmentally friendly government" from his cabinet.
The letter, which was published on Monday, June 17, refers to Hassan Rouhani's slogans during his election campaign, and states: "Due to making inappropriate decisions and implementing various projects without considering real environmental assessments, it can be concluded that the claim of being the most environmentally friendly government was made only for purely political purposes."
The letter also points out some of the government's wrong decisions in the field of the environment, including: agreeing to projects to transfer Caspian and Persian Gulf water to central Iran, sloganeering and unscientific comments about water transfer and dam construction projects, especially after the recent floods, ignoring the conditions of environmental activists, appointing unskilled managers, ignoring scientific research and not using the results of environmental project evaluations, excessive imports of genetically modified products, and more than 10 other cases.
Among the signatories are the names of university professors and well-known researchers such as Hossein Akhani, Esmaeil Kahrom, Parviz Kordvani, Asghar Mohammadi Fazel, Abdolhossein Vahabzadeh, activists and experts such as Hedieh Tehrani (actor), Mohammad Darvish and Ali Mohammad Shaari (member of parliament), and a large number of environmental journalists.
