Mine explosion; Injured colporteur loses leg and eye

HRANA News Agency – A kolbar from Sardasht city who underwent surgery to amputate his right leg following a mine explosion left over from the Iran-Iraq war on the Hangeh-Jal border in Baneh last week also lost his left eye due to the severity of his injuries.

According to HRANA news agency, citing Kurdpa, Fawad Mehdi Ebrahimian, a kolbar from Sardasht city, also lost his left eye.

An informed source said: "The left eye of this Kolbar was operated on at Tabriz Charity Hospital, and due to the severity of the injuries sustained from the mine explosion, he lost his vision in his left eye."

On Monday, March 2, Mr. Ebrahimian, 24, along with two other kolbars, was seriously injured in the leg by a mine left over from the Iran-Iraq war at the Hangeh Jal border in Baneh and was initially transferred to Salahuddin Ayubi Hospital in Baneh for treatment.

After being transferred to Imam Reza Hospital in Tabriz, he underwent surgery and had his right leg amputated.

Mines left over from the war cause the deaths and injuries of a number of compatriots in border areas every year.
