Iran expelled from UN Commission on the Status of Women

Yesterday, the Islamic Republic of Iran was expelled from the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women by a majority vote.
Given the systematic repression that the Islamic Republic government has carried out against women in the last three months, the United States proposed a resolution that discussed the Islamic Republic's withdrawal from the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.
Yesterday, Wednesday, December 13, with the approval of this resolution at the United Nations Economic and Social Council meeting, the Islamic Republic was expelled from the organization's Commission on the Status of Women with 29 votes in favor, 8 against, and 16 abstentions.
According to Iran International News Agency, the US representative to the UN Economic and Social Council read the prepared resolution and said: "The resolution prepared to expel the Islamic Republic from the UN Commission on the Status of Women is a response to the voices of civil society in Iran and Iranian civil activists around the world and will have global consequences."
The US ambassador to the UN also stated the reason for this resolution: "The time has come for a country that kills its own men and women to be expelled from this institution."
Today, the voice of unity and solidarity of the Iranian people has reached the ears of the entire world, and the curtain has been lifted on the crimes of the Islamic Republic throughout the world. This unity and solidarity will continue in Iran and other parts of the world until Iran's victory over oppression and darkness.
