Iran: Unhindered oil sales are among the most important issues in the Vienna talks

On the first day of the new round of talks in Vienna, Iran's foreign minister said that one of the most important issues in these talks is the lifting of sanctions. He emphasized that Iran must be able to sell its oil without any obstacles and earn its income.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Foreign Minister of the 13th government, told reporters on Monday, January 26, that the Islamic Republic has set aside the June 2021 document (the sixth round of negotiations under the Rouhani government) and has reached a new, joint document with the negotiating parties. According to him, these documents, which are called “December 1 and December 15,” are about both Iran’s nuclear program and the issue of sanctions.
The Iranian Foreign Minister stressed that one of the most important issues regarding these negotiations is that Iran can sell its oil without any obstacles and that the oil money is deposited in Iranian bank accounts in the form of foreign currency. He said that Iran must be able to use all the economic benefits foreseen in the JCPOA.
The eighth round of JCPOA negotiations will resume on Monday in Vienna at the level of deputy and political directors of the Iranian and 4+1 foreign ministers. The Fars news agency quoted Amir Abdollahian as saying that “the discussion of guarantees and verification” will be among the topics of discussion.
Saeed Khatibzadeh, spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, also said in a press conference that the three European countries negotiating are well aware of Iran's expectations: "If everyone in Vienna comes with the agenda of concluding the talks in the shortest possible time and has a serious determination to reach an agreement, we will achieve good results."
