Iran continues to build houses in Gaza; donates 145-square-meter houses to former Hamas prisoners

While the Iranian people have repeatedly criticized the Islamic Republic's spending on terrorist groups in recent protests, Hamas has donated 26 Iranian-built apartments to 26 former prisoners of the group by holding a lottery among 125 people.
The Hamas Ministry of Prisoners Affairs website reported that the apartments are 145 square meters in size and are located in a tower called Al-Solhi, which was built by the Islamic Republic of Iran. Hamas officials said this is the first phase of such programs supported by Iran.
Last fall, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the Islamic Republic's leader "must decide whether it is more important to spend the Iranian people's money on the Iranian people themselves, or to invent new ways to finance Bashar al-Assad, Hezbollah, Hamas, or other terrorists."
The Islamic Republic's move to build houses for Hamas members comes at a time when, in recent years, protest rallies have seen attendees chant slogans against Iran's financial aid to various Palestinian and Lebanese groups.
