Gathering of Christians and Muslims in Algeria to Pray for End of War

Christians and Muslims from the Middle East gathered in Algeria to pray for the end of war and the establishment of peace, particularly for Gaza.

According to Radna news agency, Christians and Muslims gathered in the Church of “Our Lady of Africa” in Algeria to pray for peace in the Middle East, particularly for the end of the war in Gaza.

The Catholic Church in Algeria issued an appeal for people to come together for prayers and to pray for peace in the Gaza Strip. At the gathering, foreign diplomats and representatives of various organizations also participated in response to the appeal issued in Algeria, attending the prayer ceremony.

Stefan Romatte, the French Ambassador, while participating in this ceremony, delivered remarks about the gathering and said: “When global peace, particularly in the Middle East, is in danger, the action of today’s diverse community that includes Christians and Muslims is of great importance.”

At the ceremony, Fayez Mohammad Mahmoud Abu Eita, Palestinian Ambassador, Jean Pelafesque, Archbishop of Algeria, and Youssef Macharia, head of the Algerian “Peace Passage” organization, were also present. Youssef Macharia also declared in his remarks: “We have gathered here for the purpose of praying to end the conflict in the Middle East, Palestine, and Gaza.”

Jean Pelafesque, Archbishop of Algeria, spoke about the purpose of this gathering: “We wanted to hold a day with fasting and collective prayer for peace and to end the war in Gaza. Therefore, today is a day of prayer in solidarity with all residents of Gaza.”

Approximately 200 people gathered in the aforementioned appeal and engaged in prayer and worship.
