Re-arrest of political activist Reza Norouzi

Political activist Reza Norouzi, who had been living in hiding for a while after his release, was arrested again by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence.

Reza Norouzi was born in 1989 and is from Sarab. In Ordibehesht 1401, he set his Nissan pickup truck on fire in Enqelab Square with his wife and two young children and, chanting slogans of protest against the regime, called on people to join the “No to the Islamic Republic” campaign. It seems that Reza Norouzi was one of the first brave people to openly and fearlessly raise his voice against the Islamic Republic regime among the general public. He was arrested immediately after this act and transferred to Detention Center 209 of the Ministry of Intelligence.

He was held in solitary confinement for 2 months and subjected to intensive interrogations, then after being informed of the charges, he was transferred to the 4th ward of Evin Prison. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison by Judge Iman Afshari for “gathering and colluding against national security” and “propaganda against the system.” This sentence was upheld by the Court of Appeal, and 5 years of his sentence became enforceable.

According to reports from Reza Norouzi's lawyer, he was released on bail of 500 million Tomans on June 26, 1402, after serving 2 years and one month in prison. He lived in hiding for a while and had returned home to visit his family when he was arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents a few hours ago and taken to an unknown location.
